St. Catherine of Siena School
"Where Character Counts"
We believe that it is the function of the staff of St. Catherine of Siena School to
act in conjunction with parents as guides for the students.  With direction, we
hope our young people will come to God as they meet the challenges of an
increasingly secular society because we have enabled them to seek the Creator
in all aspects of their lives.

We acknowledge parents as the primary educators of their children and wish to
aid parents in fostering students' appreciation for knowledge: spiritual, academic,
social, emotional and physical.  With technological evolution in mind, we are
striving to help students keep an open view toward the changes with which they
are presented.  We hope that they will then contribute to the growth of others
through the use of their individual gifts.

As followers of Jesus in union with St. Catherine's Parish Community we want our
students to learn what it means to be part of a Christian Community.  We work to
develop an appreciation and understanding within the students of their Catholic
faith and traditions while promoting sound moral values and growth in their
commitment to follow the Lord.

As part of our Christian mission to spread the gospel message to all people, we
strive to empower our students with the ability to foster reconciliation and build
community by developing an appreciation and understanding of our multi-cultural
diversity.  Thus we enable students to become instruments of peace, harmony
and justice.  We acknowledge one another's gifts, service to others, and the
nurturing bonds of unity and love with all people.
Mission Statement

History
St. Catherine of Siena began its history with the Franciscan Order of Sisters in
1956 with two classrooms, expanding to four the following year.  In 1959 a
parish hall was added onto the school building, then two more classrooms in
1960.  In 1973 when the parish built a new hall, the old one was divided into two
classrooms, a library and a learning center.

In that same year, the school was gifted with an empty lot by the parish.  It is
now used as a field and houses the playground equipment, three modular units
used as a Library (new), a computer lab and a daycare room for before and
after school care.

In 1984 a Kindergarten program began and an extended daycare program was
introduced.

On January 5, 1985, the St. Catherine of Siena community was devastated by a
fire that destroyed the church building.  The years following were spent
rebuilding the church and a wounded community.  While Masses were held in
the parish hall, classrooms were used for fellowship.  The school hosted
doughnuts and coffee after weekend masses once a month.  When the new
church was constructed, the school placed a time capsule under the bell tower.

Plans for a preschool program became a reality in January of 1999.  The
children participate in most of the elementary school events in our efforts to help
them feel a part of the whole community.  Each year the number of students
continuing into our Kindergarten has grown.

The current administration and staff are working hard to maintain a stable,
Catholic environment with high academic standards.
